INDUCTION
2024
Fine silver (recycled), patinated fine silver; driftwood; and salvaged iron.
17cm x 27cm x 6cm
The offer of power to navigate dark constriction and stay the course.
This piece is particularly poignant for me since the Victorian base was found in my garden, the rings are from my grown children's old swing set and the driftwood gifted to me by my sister, picked up from a beach in New Zealand, where I grew up.
It's a piece about triumphantly making it through the ups and downs of life and celebrating the help we get with that along the way.
Crocheted fine silver wire, embellished with further fine silver, mounted on driftwood and wrapped about with salvaged iron. Patinated silver wire binds the base metal together. All the silver, iron and wood has been sealed to prevent degradation, tarnishing and change of colour.
Exhibited in The Entranced Essence at London gallery RuptureXibit(+Studio), Details of the exhibition, more views of the work and the inspiration behind it in my blog post, link below.
Also shown as part of the Monkton Arts Prize shortlist exhibition in the new Mead Gallery at Monkton Arts, Isle of Wight.
