DELICACY
2022
Hallmarked fine silver and wool.
7.5cm x 9cm x 5cm
When I was young and living on our farm in New Zealand, I would collect the eggs from our Indian Runner ducks in my upturned jumper. The jumpers were knitted by my mother with wool she had spun herself from our own sheep. The jumpers always had holes in them due to the work involved in creating replacements! I remember gingerly placing the eggs in my marsupial pouch, each being treated with the utmost delicacy, care and respect. So precious, despite their abundance.
Displayed in the larder as part of Ever Grainger's "eggschange" project at Ever Garden Cottage and Sculpture Garden, Brighstone, Isle of Wight, Summer 2022.
